Most issues in mobile networks occur in the base station infrastructure, made up of the antenna system, cables, and connectors, and are usually related to the antenna feed line (coaxial or fiber). Contamination on fiber connectors is the most common fiber-related issue. All mobile networks equipped with fiber-based feed lines require verification of both RF and fiber. Until now, multiple instruments were used for these tests, one for RF and another for fiber, and the JD720C series represents the first cable and antenna analyzer to offer an integrated solution for fiber and coaxial cable, making it the most versatile and optimal instrument for correctly repairing or installing base stations.
The JD720C analyzers have all the measurement functions needed to characterize coaxial cable and antenna systems, including signal reflection testing (VSWR or return loss), distance-to-fault (DTF), cable loss, gain/insertion loss, antenna isolation, and TMA performance. It also enables fiber characterization, including fiber inspection with the VIAVI fiber microscope and optical power verification with VIAVI's MP-60/80 optical power sensors. In addition, the JD720C series can be managed with StrataSync, VIAVI's cloud services, which provide asset management, data management, and push notifications that solve inventory, firmware update, and systematic test configuration issues.
